I believe that successful mystery shopping must meet the following guidelines: 1. Mystery shoppers must be well trained. 2. A balanced, fair account of the actual situation at the client's place of business be given. 3. A detailed summary of the visit with recommendations for improvement be submitted. Let me answer all three of the points raised above. 1. I very seldom engage students/inexperienced individuals for mystery shopping assignments. Although using this group lowers my costs considerably, I find it ultimately not a worthwhile option as there are usually too much corrections/revisions to make after the visits. On the contrary, I pay TOP DOLLAR (or Ringgit, in this case) to my mystery shoppers as I value quality above everything else. I also personally train each mystery shopper. To me, its very simple really - train them well, and you have less headache later. 2. I take pride in the reports that follow each visit. I ensure that everything has been taken into consideration, including special or unique circumstances surrounding each mystery shopping visit. There may be times when I am personally not happy with the outcome of a visit in terms of its quality, and in such cases, I repeat the visit (with different people naturally) at my own cost. All reports are vetted by me, and only I will write the final report to you. 3. I believe a report is not very useful unless it contains suggestions/recommendations on how to make things better. I will give you practical, can use and can do suggestions to move forward. Randolph
